la traversara
la traversara is not just an ancient trade route dating back to the Etruscans, which about 1000 years before the birth of Christ connected the Upper Italy region around Lake Garda, through the Non Valley, with the present-day Burgraviato area around Merano.
la traversara – a project aimed at uniting two areas that are sometimes underdeveloped in terms of viticulture through wine cultivation.
The patron of this unique viticulture story is the Wieserhof winery, which crowns the project with its logo, the first letter of its name. As a small family business, Wieserhof winery cultivates two small vineyards as a secondary activity. One is located in the village of Foiana in South Tyrol, and the other is in the village of Castagnara – Masetto in the Garda region.
The two vineyards are not only united by a unique altitude of 600 meters, which allows for the cultivation of wines with a strong character.
Both vineyards differ in their basic soil and climate conditions for viticulture. This is the only way to create four distinct wines from two identical grape varieties (Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir), each aged in the same way in wooden barrels, with each wine able to tell its own story.
